Dr. Rebecca Ofrane

Tell us about yourself!

I'm a doula, maternal health advocate, public health leader, mom, musician and most recently - DrPH! I just successfully defended and am graduating from Rutgers SPH in May.

Why did you pursue a DrPH?

To grow my research skills and shift my public health career more squarely into maternal and child health. It worked!

What are you currently excited about in your job?

Applying all my DrPH skills in my job at the NJ Dept. of Health. With a new large team, lots of programs and state bureaucracy, I'm using it all!

If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

Dr. Doula!

What is something interesting about you that we should know?

I grew up on a farm and was in charge of checking on the horses throughout the day/night when they were in labor. That should have been a sign that I'd be interested in birth for my career!
