Dr. Ewura Adjoa Ahimah Nunoo
Tell us about yourself.
I am a public health physician specialist working at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra Ghana. I am a member of the Ghana College of Physicians (Public Health Faculty). I was born in Togo and schooled in South Africa and Ghana. I have enrolled in the DrPH IHSD program at the Tulane University. I have been practicing medicine for 12 years now and I am a health advocate who uses mass media (radio and television) as well as social media (Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and X) to educate the public on public health issues. I also give health talks in schools, companies and churches. I have held quite a number of leadership positions in the past and my most recent one was being the head of the Duala medical center, a facility in Burma Camp, Accra. I have launched breast cancer screening, oral health screening and substance abuse campaigns in Burma Camp. With the help of the clinical psychologists at the 37 Military Hospital and a mental health advocate, I run a weekly narcotics anonymous meeting in Burma Camp. I have won several awards in the past and is part of Golden Key International Honour Society (Wits Chapter), I mentor female medical students who aspire to be like me some day.
Why did you pursue a DrPH?
I wanted to achieve the highest professional degree in the public health field. I would like to get on to the global market and be the best leader I can possibly be.
What are you currently excited about in your job?
The health education, advocacy and promotion that I do. I love to screen people and help them choose healthier life choices. I love planning health programs and making an impact in people's lives.
If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
Unbreakable Ewura Adjoa. I believe I have gone through a lot in life. Being raised by a single mother and having a few challenges here and there but I was resilient and strong through it all.
What is something interesting about you that we should know?
I am multi-lingual, innovative, empathetic and warm. I am a chorister and the current Circuit choir Vice Chairman. I am a philanthropist who financially supports a few widows. I love to give back to society.
